Chronicle

Sorry peeps, I know it has been a while since I wrote a review on here.  You are now looking at the newest reviewer for Screenjabber.com!  I know, not that exciting for you, but I am rather excited!

Anyway on to this review for you all.

Chronicle
(Stars Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Kelly, Ashley Hinshaw, Bo Petersen, Anna Wood, Rudi Malcolm, Luke Tyler, Crystal-Donna Roberts, Adrian Collins, Nicole Bailey.  Written by Max Landis. Cert UK 12.  Runtime 84 Minutes.  Directed by Josh Trank)

Chronicle is a compelling story of three young men who find they have super powers after coming in contact with something otherwordly.
Each a boy different 'type' of American school kid, The Troubled Geek, The Student President and The Jock.  They were all friends when they were younger, less defined.  They still talk to each other in the the school halls etc.  One night after a school event, Jock boy Matt and Class President Steve find something in the woods, they ask Geek Andrew to go along with this videocamera that never leaves his side to film what they have found.

What they find is not normal, not of this world.  Not really sure what it is really.  It's certainly living, breathing, feeding, exuding some kind of unexplainable powerThe guys find it in a crater in the ground, they go in not expecting to see what they see.  It reacts to them, creates some sort of energy explosion and then all goes black.

When the camera comes back on, the guys are aware something has happened, something has changed their very DNA.  They don't know what it is but it is exciting and can make them do extraordinary things.

What follows in a rollercoaster of a ride into their new lives with super powers.  How they train themselves to understand these powers and use them to their advantage.
All shot on this videocamera, it becomes the 'chronicle' of their lives as regular humans and as superhumans.  It was incredibly smart, emotional, riveting, sharp, witty, comical, great all in one little bundle.

The 3 actors are well cast as the superhuman friends, we really get to see the teen American psyche at work in all three men. It ends as explosively as it had begun, throwing you all over the place.  In a world full of comic book adaptations a plenty, not all good, Chronicle comes and slaps you in the face, then runs away and shouts at you to keep your eyes open as if you blink you will miss it.

Fantastically shot, great script, excellent actors, amazing concept.  The trailer doesn't do this film justice and I may have not seen it on the trailer alone.  Please go and see this film, its amazing. Or as the kids say these days, Amazeballs.
