I haven't watched this film for many years, since 1997 in fact. I have fond memories of it though.
"Go for it Muriel!"
"Its Mariel actually."
"Can you break your back from having too much sex?!?!"
The Manc said we should watch it again. I agreed, I mean what's not to love about this film?
You must all be thinking that I have gone a bit mad, why on earth would you watch that film again?
I tell you, its one of the best films to come out of Australia! There are some great films (Romper Stomper, The Dish, Rabbit Proof Fence to name a few) but this film has such feel-good factor.
The bright colours, everything has a slight orange tinge to it. Its all so ......sunny! You can't help but smile at this film. Muriel/Mariel is infectious and not at all annoying (unlike Happy Go Lucky where it can be).
Two great things have come from that film, Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths. Both great actresses now cutting it in Hollywood.
Its one of those films I could watch over and over. Sad that it has taken me years to figure that out. Buying on DVD sharpish.
